About the Principal Teacher:
I started ballet at the age of 4years old under the tutoring of various Royal Academy of Dance and Cecchetti registered teachers. When entering high school, I took ballet and contemporary dance as a school subject until matric in 2002. After high school I opted to study dance further at the University of Cape Town School of Dance and obtained my BMus(Dance) degree in the teaching of classical ballet and contemporary dance in 2006. Once graduated, I decided to further study ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance and achieved my advanced examinations. I entered the work force by becoming a dance teacher for the Western Cape Education Department and was placed at two public primary schools from 2008 to 2015. All the while I was working I further studied
for a certificate in ballet teaching studies through the RAD and in 2011 obtained my registered teacher status. From 2016 the WCED placed me at three public schools as a Senior Phase Creative Arts: Dance teacher to teach the CAPs dance curriculum. While studying and working I also joined a non-profit dance company in 2010, Northern Dance Project, and performed with the group for three years at various dance festivals in South Africa. I have experience performing personally on stage, organising and directing dance productions, choreographing for mass groups of learners for school concerts, class planning and practical assessments for dance learners, the compiling of internal dance reports and the teaching of dance theory.
I hope to make dance a wonderful experience for you and your child to enjoy.
